Why can we say that reading is one of the "purest" pleasures known to man?

emphasis on purest. purest pleasure in the sense that??? "why is reading pleasurable?"

1. Reading was one of the greatest pleasures I ever discovered, and it continues to be my greatest source of knowledge, pleasure and understanding of the world around me. In that sense, it is "pure" because it requires nothing more than my reading skills to embrace its pleasures.
