I avoid restaurants with taxi-dermied animals on the walls. I think it's plain evil to murder these poor animals for pure pleasure and then take them to get their skin removed from their bones and skulls for the use of taxi-dermy!! What kind of sick fetish is that? What if it were legal to do it to the people who hunt animals for fun?

I think God gave me the right to do taxi-dermy any dang-time I want to. Stuffed-animals look-good on my wall. They-are beaut-i-ful.
Murder is something that ONLY applies to PEOPLE. Taxidermy is ONE WORD. Use YOUR own brain that God gave you and DON'T let other's make your mind up for you. If you actually did some research on this, then you may actually understand something. Besides, it's NOT about the size of the animal, any animal is a trophy. It's a trophy to be able to harvest an animal to provide BETTER food for you and your family. It's a trophy to be able to enjoy the outdoors while we still have it. Heck, your ancestors were Indians, I don't care where your from, they lived off the land and they HUNTED. Without hunting, you wouldn't be here. GROW UP!!!!!!!!!! By the way, WE DO NOT HUNT FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING FUN OR FOR THE SAKE OF KILLING SOMETHING Added-- Shut up if you eat meat. If you do, you have NO room to complain.
You really need to change your screen name. Certainly ascribing evil motives to those who do something you know nothing about is far from liberal. Hunting and preservation of (living) game animals are inextricably linked. You can choose not to help preserve wildlife if you wish. That's your business. But some of us love those animals and will hunt to maintain them in the wild. For you, there's always the zoo. Taxidermists don't exactly get rich off my business, either, but I see nothing wrong with honoring an animal taken in a fair hunt by preservation through taxidermy. It just isn't my cuppa.

Would you have preferred I throw away his hide and antlers rather than making use of them as a tribute to this beautiful animal, which reminds me every time I look at it of the sacrifice this deer made so I could eat?

Who cares what you think? The vast majority of Americans are pro 2nd Amendment anyway so there's absolutely nothing you can do about it -- ever. So why don't you just sit down, un-twist your panties and write a real nasty letter to your congressman complaining all about those mean restaurants that offend your delicate sensibilities? While you're at it you can demand an increase in your food stamp allotment and free government cheese. I'm not a hunter, I can't stand to shoot Baby...I tried and failed :( It's just not in me to hurt another animal...outside of a rattle snake or something endangering my family. That or cows, I can't live with out my steak and potatos lol Now with that, I agree with hunters. That is because I understand population control. You remember Flight # 1549 that landed in the Hudson? Both engines swallowed up enough geese to shut down just after take off almost killing 155 people. Birds has gotten so over populated at local airports they have resulted in shooting them in order to prevent what happened to Flight 1549. This is just one of the many issues with not allowing hunting. When deer become over populated they head for towns. This presents a danger as they could seriously hurt people should they strike one with a vehicle. They also tear up yards. The same thing with feral hogs. They over populate and screw everything up. Also, in my area, people will donate the deer meat to the food banks. There is a local processing place that will process the meat for free and hand it over to the hungry. Hunting is also part of our culture...you show me one of your Liberal friend/family members that can date their family history back 10 generations without one person hunting and I'll eat my hat. This Peda Liberal movement isn't about cruelty to animals, it's about Gun Control....most of the 90 million gun owners living in the U.S. are hunters. So you're simply trying to back door gun control laws by banning hunting. You need to wake the you know what up and get with the program. And before I quit with my rant, keep in mind there is a lot of fake trophy heads being displayed in restaurants. So look into before you spaz out.

What gives me the right? God, or if you don't believe in God, natural selection gave me the right. Humans are superior to other animals, AKA top of the food chain. I kill animals for the meat, not the sake of killing them and hanging them on my wall. I ate all of the meat from my 14 point and 8 point deer that are hanging on my wall. The mounts are a tribute to the animal. Mounting animals on walls makes the animals look better and more majestic than if they were to be rotting in the woods, don't you think? Would you rather see nasty rotting animals on the side of the road all the time or see cool looking animals in a restaurant or store? Most of the "animals" in the stores and restauraunts are fake anyway. Since you claim to be liberal, I'll assume you are pro-choice and beleive in abortion. So I must ask, if you want to know what gives me the right to hunt, I need to know what gives you the right to kill an innocent child? What makes you think that the animals were killed only for fun? Also, taxidermy is one word without a hyphen. If you eat meat, take gel capsules, have gotten a polio/MMR/varicella vaccine you are guilty of your definition of "murder" by proxy. Mounting the animals that you hunt is not a sick fetish; it is simply utilizing all parts of the animal. It doesn't particularly fit my decorating style, but to each his own. Suggesting that murdering people is the same as hunting is ridiculous.
you obviously dont have mans primal instinct for survival if you dont like hunting. Preserving is another thing entirely. Firstly, the hunter probably just wants it because he wants some sort of bragging rights. Secondly it could be a record animal and he might view it as a form of collecting. And the meat doesnt necessarily go to waste, the hunter might keep the meat. I personally hunt because it is cheaper than the butchers and I even use the skin, i turn them into rugs or mats or whatever they are called. What right do we have to kill other animals? We are man, we have the power to kill animals, they are not powerful enough to stop us, therefore if we decide that an animals life is forfeit no-one can stop us. If it were legal to kill or imprison people to hunt it for fun that hunt animals for fun that would be really messed up. Are you saying that an animals right to live is worth just as much as ours? we might as well call them humans then. Plus your missing the point that humans do far worse things to humans than they have ever done to animals. Also everyone who hunts enjoys the feeling of power they have from deciding weather an animal lives or dies. It's illegal to waste any edible meat on most big game. The rest of the animal is in some guys freezer until it get's eaten.
I think many of the arguments made on here are quite stupid and no one really answered the man's question. I do not see a problem with killing an animal for nourishment, it's no different then going to a diner and ordering a big fat hamburger or eating a piece of sushi, I agree. But killing an animal for "thrills" with a high powered rifle, and calling it a sport, is sick. When people like Sarah Palin, shoot at endangered timberwolves from the safety of a plane, where is the sport in that? The fact is that many hunters kill animals that are not overpopullated and many discard of the meat. What is the big triumph? She needed a plane to match the animal's speed, she needed a .3030 to kill the thing, and she couldn't get close to them because they would rip her f*cking head off. Oh but she "beat" the wolf. I think you will find that the majority of animals that end up on restaurant walls are animals that were killed for their meat. I take it you are talking about Moose heads etc? Although personally I dont find stuffed and mounted animal heads particularly attractive, and think its a tad gruesome, they are mainly a by product of food, like leather for example. Perfectly acceptable. What I find offensive is stuff like tiger skin rugs etc. That was indeed an animal that was killed just for fun. And that to me is wrong. If an amimal isn't going to be eaten, or if it isnt being "culled", or it isn't being killed because it is posing a threat to someones saftey, then it is indeed just bloodlust.

I agree with you, it's disgusting. Animals are living species just as humans, people should NOT kill animals for heir sick entertainment. I have 2 cats and a dog and they are part of the family. I despise hunters! It's one thing to eat meat (which is fine, and can be debated as human nature/survival) but killing animals just just their beauty to hang on your wall is beyond repulsive. Hunting is population control, w/o it there would be wide spread famon and disease, from loss of their natural habitat due to city expansion. So it is really you doing more harm to the wild life. meaning the trophy says, I like my family as well as animals enough to kill. You should really learn about what you are saying. Instead of trying to take our rights away.
