Free toys for guinea pigs and rabbits?
I have a GP and a rabbit and they love toys and my partner and I spend a fortune on them at the pet shop. Problem is they take great pleasure is wrecking the toys quite quickly. Does anyone have any ideas of some toys and games we can make from things around the house? Thanks x

- I forget what GP like for toys. For my rabbits I got some tough plastic cat jingle balls and parrot toys (they hang from the top of the cage.. they are made of wood beads and bells.. the rabbits like pushing them around). I've had the last set of toys 2 years now.. they never break them we just loose them sometimes and buy new. Those end up being cheaper because they can't ruin them fast. They always enjoy hay. If you're handy with wood you could build a small wood tunnel they can chew and run through (they really like things they can hide in). Don't give them anything like cardboard (TP rolls) or paper because they eat a lot of it when they chew and it can make them impacted (Impaction occurs in animals when they consume something that they cannot digest. Once the substance is ingested it will block the digestive tract and, if untreated, cause death. The symptoms are usually lack of appetite or lethargy). They can eat all the hay they want though.. hay is fiber to rabbits and it's needed for proper digestion. Rabbits are self-cleaners, like cats, but rabbits can't hack up a fur-ball so they have to pass it through their digestive track. Hay keeps the fur moving at an even pace (if fur clogs together it's called furblock.. same as impaction). I've seen wood toys where you stuff hay into it and the rabbits have to turn the block to get the hay out.
- I have a GP and sometimes I'll give her a small jewelry box, put in some of her food, tape it shut, and give it to her, and she chews it all the time, and it is safe because (at least for my GP) she doesn't rip off pieces of it.
- I just asked this same question. But no one has responded yet.
